Is it the number of a trabi-engine ?
If it is not the first engine in the car, it could be a repaired one , the numbers are different to the normal numbers which begin with 65.. for example. Then it would be difficult to specify, what is inside.
I think, you can´t do anything wrong with 1:50 by using a part-synthetic oil. -
Ok.
You can write the reply messages in German, I can read German but i can't write in it. -
No, Gromit! 5B-XXXXXXXX is a regular number of a Motor Type 65/66B, Hycomat-Motors start with 6B-XXXXXXXX. Normally, they are built for 1:50.
But perhaps, someone took the case of a new Motor and completed it with old components?Zitat
Have a look at the list of www.original-trabant.de
Veränderung Motor Nummern:
von 65-000000 in 5000000
von 66-000000 in 6000000
von 65A000000 in 5A000000
ab Sept. 76Under regular conditions, your engine has been built for 2% / 1:50

In my Trabant, there is an engine whose number starts with 65-XXXXXXX. But this engine has got "Kolbenringabdichtung" (sorry, i don't know the English word) and modified ball bearings.
To sum up, it's technology from 1984 in a crankcase which was built before 1976You see, a lot was possible in the GDR

But who on earth would do such silly things ?

Perhaps, the engine was completed 20 years ago? Why shouldn't it be still running??

Hi Phi,
Kolbenringabdichtung : Pistonring seal
