Trabant 601 von 1986 (Cluj Napoca Romania )

It looks like it's a great car. (Now i see. it's an 1986! Nice year, what is the month of build?) How is the Interieur?

Dieser User kommt aus Rumänien und kann kein Deutsch. Damit er mitteilen kann was ihm auf dem Herzen liegt schreibt er in Englisch. Ich persönlich habe kein Problem damit und werde auch in Zukunft in Englisch antworten. Wenn jemand Fragen zur Übersetzung hat darf er sich gern an mich wenden.
Die Sache mit dem Google-Übersetzer bringt uns hier auch nicht weiter, da deutsch und rumänisch beides komplizierte Sprachen sind und bei einer maschinellen Übersetzung nur Schrott rauskommen würde.

Why did you took a single-circle brake cylinder? There are some with double-circle still available.
Disc breaks are no problem, adaptors are available, you'll just have to change a aprt of the axle. If you want i can take you a photo, my English is not so good to explain this.

By the rolling-cage, i'm not sure if you can buy one or have to weld by yourself. I've never been interested in such things.

Did you sandblast or made the rust away from the ground panel? This looks bad.

If you have a lot of money, you can buy a completed engine with more power. Tuning the engine yourself without experience is senseless.
A smaller steering wheel is no problem, you only need a matching nave.

Seats from the BMW E30 are matching without alteration.
For the disc brake you need some adapter, like this http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260792997618 and the brakes from a Golf 1 or Polo 86c.

No, they don't. The seat attachment on the ground panel might be 1-2cm shorter in 1986. I've tried this on my 10/86. (Thatswhy the runners of the newer seats have two holes i think )
And by the way, the E30 seats just work after 1987, if i remember right. There was the technical facelift.

Oh youre right. I took seats from a Ford Fiesta, 4th generation i think. But almost each seat is adaptable.

You better think very carefully about the tuning of the original Trabi engine .

There is nothing impossible in this World, but this kind of tuning is just useless ( for me ). Because every modification you make on the original Trabi engine rises the fuel, which the little monster is eating for 100 km and reduces it's life.

In the past the renntrabis were modified, because there were a lot of original and self made tuning parts. There were professional mechanics and enginers and the teams had money to buy everything they need. And of course it has been a different time, different Era . The racers were not interested in the little engine life, they needed a better lap time.
